Festus Aghagbo Nwako Library

The Professor Festus Aghagbo Nwako Library is a hybrid library. It is one of the largest academic libraries in Africa. The Library is named after the first Vice- Chancellor of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University. Although the library was commissioned in March, 2008, it opened its gate to readers in January, 2009. The Main Library has about 30,000sq. meters of floor space which could accommodate 3,000 readers at a time. The annex which is the Digital Library has a usable floor space of about 10,000 sq. meters.

FAQ

Every bonafide student or staff is eligible to use the library. Non-members of the University can also use the library if they have valid identification card and introduction letter from their school or organization. However, you must register with the library at the Circulation Desk to obtain borrower’s card if you want to borrow any library material.

You can register if you are a student or employed by Nnamdi Azikiwe University. The registration is done online via this link: https://forms.gle/zzxDQKQ84s6tetoP6. After successful completion of the online registration, proceed to the Circulation Desk and show evidence of registration. After the completion of the registration process you will be issued a borrowers card and library identification card.

The University Library is closed on Sundays and statutory public holidays as announced by the Federal Government.  Details of such holidays and dates are displayed at the entrance of the library.

You can borrow up to 4 books. The loan period is 2 weeks.

You can find the items that available through the traditional library catalogue or the Online Public Access Catalogue(OPAC). You can ask a Librarian, if you are having difficulty locating a book on the shelves, please ask for assistance at the Circulation Desk or from any staff at the reading halls.
